Senior Software Engineer Belfast (3 days a week in office) £62,000 - £67,000 depending on experience Full-time, Permanent We're working with a leading technology team in Belfast who are embarking on a major cloud upgrade programme, moving their large-scale systems into AWS. They're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help drive this transformation while building out high-quality, scalable solutions that serve both internal teams and external clients. This is a hands-on senior role where you'll design and deliver solutions, mentor engineers, and play a key part in shaping best practice across a modern, cloud-focused environment. You'll be contributing to distributed systems, high-performing backend services, and next-generation platforms designed for scale. What you'll be doing Partner with architects and senior stakeholders to design and deliver scalable, resilient systems. Take ownership of technical delivery, from design through to deployment and support. Mentor and guide engineers, helping to upskill the wider team. Enhance tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and development processes to improve delivery. Identify risks and blockers early, ensuring progress across the engineering lifecycle. What we're looking for Strong experience developing distributed, event-driven systems. Deep knowledge of .NET Core / modern .NET with C#. Proven experience building APIs (REST or GraphQL). Strong database background (SQL Server, MySQL, or similar) including optimisation. Practical experience with cloud services - AWS, Azure, or GCP all considered. Strong understanding of the full SDLC, from requirements through to production. Experience with automated testing frameworks at scale. Pragmatic, collaborative approach with the ability to influence technical decisions. Nice to have Experience building desktop apps with WPF. Exposure to high-throughput or real-time systems. Familiarity with frontend tools such as JavaScript or React. Knowledge of microservices and/or serverless design patterns. Experience applying TDD, BDD, or similar approaches.
