Weekend Personal Assistant(s) Required – Penarth
I am an elderly lady living in the Penarth area with a diagnosis of mixed dementia. I already employ a Personal Assistant; however, due to a recent deterioration, I have been awarded additional support hours.
I enjoy gentle walks into Penarth for a coffee and cake or to pick up the newspaper. I do not use any walking aids but appreciate having someone’s arm for reassurance. I also enjoy watching old films and listening to classical music.
Purpose of the Role
I am seeking kind, reliable Personal Assistants to support me both in my home and out in the community, helping me to remain safe, comfortable, and engaged.
Hours of Work – weekend
Saturday: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sunday: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. or 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
You will also be required to provide cover for other PAs during holidays or sickness.
Rate of Pay
£16.10 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities
* Personal care
* Meal preparation
* Prompting with fluids and medication
* Social stimulation and companionship (at home and in the community)
* Support with shopping
* Walking into Penarth for coffee, cake, or newspapers
* Light domestic duties (laundry and cleaning)
* Support with undressing and dressing into nightwear
* Assisting to bed and helping to settle in the evening to reduce fall risks
* Ensuring safety at all times
Person Specification
* Experienced in, or knowledgeable about, dementia and its impact
* Sensitive, patient, and understanding
* Nicely spoken and a good listenerGentle, calm, and reassuring
* Female applicant only, due to the personal care requirements of the role
About the Job
Although a part‑time position, this is a proper job requiring a National Insurance number. A trial period will be established initially. Wage will be paid monthly with appropriate holiday pay.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check, which will be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). Relevant checks will confirm the right to work in the UK.
