Summary of Role:
An exciting opportunity awaits to be part of the acclaimed Nidec Drives R&D Department as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer.
The Senior Power Electronics Engineer will report to the Product Development Manager, with key responsibilities to design, develop and implement power electronics and auxiliary circuits.
This includes all technical disciplines required to deliver these circuits, including component evaluation, circuit analysis and simulations, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review with consideration for manufacturing requirements.
Key Job Responsibilities:
* Have a solid understanding of power electronics.
* Contribute to the creation of new designs, product specifications, critical power components, and develop analogue, digital, and electronic circuits/systems for power electronics.
* Implement designs that meet functional requirements and conform to international EMC and Safety standards.
* Interface with external suppliers and participate in product design reviews, maintaining daily interaction with engineers from multiple disciplines to ensure solutions align with drive architecture.
* Manage and facilitate type test meetings and develop test equipment.
* Prepare technical documentation and reports, presenting and justifying design concepts.
* Participate in technical design reviews, critique, and challenge others’ designs constructively.
* Guide and support other Development Engineers.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Masters Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
* Proven experience as an engineer.
* Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
* Experience with simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, MATLAB Simulink).
* Interest in emerging technology and innovation in the field.
* Knowledge of planning tools and application of planning theories.
* Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
