An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced Metallurgical/Materials Engineer to join a leading team in Peterborough. This is a 12-month rolling contract with a competitive pay rate.
Responsibilities
* Providing materials engineering support to UK facilities and investigating a wide range of materials across multiple applications.
* Building collaborative partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Resolving design and manufacturing issues to ensure product quality and readiness.
* Implementing and improving testing, development, and validation processes.
* Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
* Providing technical guidance and insights to various teams and departments.
* Identifying and addressing metallurgical and manufacturing defects.
About You
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience, with a background in metallurgy, preferably within the steel industry. You must have experience working in a materials laboratory.
Essential Requirements
* A degree in Materials Science/Metallurgy or extensive practical working experience in a materials laboratory.
* Experience with metallurgical/materials evaluation of new products.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
* Experience in providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance.
* Ability to identify metallurgical/materials manufacturing defects and recommend process improvements.
* Experience of working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory.
Benefits
This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Competitive pay rates of £25.30 - £27.30 per hour.
