Overview
UK Assistant Technologists support product development and delivery of Sainsburys Argos General Merchandise (GM) & Clothing product plans, ensuring quality, safety, and legality. They collaborate with Asia Technical peers, Sourcing teams, Suppliers, Designers, Buyers, Merchandisers, supply chain/DC, and retail teams to produce high-quality products that meet standards and policies in line with customers expectations and our cost of goods challenge. They regularly review customer returns, star rating performance and respond to customer complaints, ensuring learnings are built into future product specifications to reduce returns and improve customer experience.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of innovative product and new product development through product evaluation, competitor benchmarking, customer/store feedback management, range reviews, and post-sales customer feedback.
* Under the oversight of C4 technologists, ensure Sainsburys Argos GM and Clothing products comply with safety, legal, and quality risk assessments, maintaining brand reputation and fulfilling due diligence requirements.
* Manage small/low risk product areas.
* Ensure technical approvals and timelines adhere to the critical path, coordinating with suppliers and global stakeholders, including product specifications and artwork approvals.
* Support the execution of category technical & sourcing strategy by collaborating with Buying, Sourcing, Sustainability and Design.
* Take responsibility for promptly resolving issues and managing held stock in the UK, maintaining relevant trackers and incident report forms.
* Deliver department KPIs and goals.
* With C4 Technologists guidance, manage creation, maintenance and updates of technical records (e.g., appraisal documents, workbooks, policies, product standards, testing reports, performance trackers) following company procedures and legal guidelines.
* Support implementation of corporate sustainability plans.
* Investigate and resolve issues promptly, seek opportunities to reduce returns by analysing customer feedback and returns data; aim for continuous improvement of product quality and supply base technical capability.
* Embrace change and proactively support new working methods in GM, delivering a wide range of tasks and taking ownership for solving problems you identify.
