THE ROLE Are you passionate about safety and eager to make a splash in a fast-paced, sustainable industry? We are looking for a detail-oriented Health and Safety Assistant to join our team and help protect our people while they feed the world. This is a varied role where you will support the H&S Team in maintaining a culture of safety excellence. Your day to day will include: data collection and reporting; site inspections and audits; risk management; incident investigation; document management and review; monitoring system progress; conduct follow-up visits to sites which will involve travelling on vessels and barges The role offers responsibility, development, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Health & Safety across our freshwater, seawater and processing operations. You will provide both onsite and remote support, working closely with site teams across the business to help maintain and continuously improve our integrated H&S systems and procedures. The role would suit someone with a keen interest in H&S and/or who is willing to learn new skills with support and training. The role can be adapted to suit the experience level of the successful candidate with scope for the role to develop over time. Travel will be required, primarily within Orkney to our seawater sites, with occasional travel to other areas of the business outside of Orkney, such as Shetland, Invergordon, Glasgow and Cumbria. SKILLS REQUIRED Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Forms, MS SharePoint, and MS OneDrive Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads Self-motivated, adaptable and comfortable with changing priorities Comfortable embarking and disembarking vessels and visiting seawater sites in variable weather Supportive approach to assist and coach colleagues in H&S Ability to highlight areas for improvement as a result of audits Full UK driving license. Desirable Qualification in, or strong interest in Health and Safety (e.g. IOSH MS) Knowledge or understanding of aquaculture and associated activities Awareness of H&S legislation, ACOP, and relevant guidance Awareness of MCA legislation, MGN, MSN, and MIN Experience of audit/internal audit.
