We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Chemistry Teacher to join our dynamic science faculty at a forward-thinking secondary school in Birkenhead. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality chemistry lessons to students aged 11–16 (and potentially 16–18), fostering a love of science and helping all learners achieve their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver engaging and challenging chemistry lessons in line with the national curriculum.
* Prepare students for GCSE Science (AQA, OCR, or Edexcel depending on school).
* Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
* Assess, track, and report on the progress of pupils, providing effective feedback.
* Maintain high standards of classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
* Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and CPD opportunities.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across the science department to support curriculum development.
* Ensure the health and safety of students during practical activities in the lab, following school and COSHH guidelines.
Essential Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
* Degree in Chemistry or a related subject.
* Proven experience teaching Chemistry at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
* Strong subject knowledge and a passion for science education.
* Excellent communication, classroom management, and organisational skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable:
* Experience teaching A-Level Chemistry.
* Familiarity with current educational technologies and digital learning tools.
* Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular science activities or STEM clubs.
