We are fully committed to equal opportunities and we welcome applications from all backgrounds.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our organisation‑wide approach to records management at a time of genuine transformation. As a new Trust, we are building strong foundations for excellent governance, transparency and information management — and you will play a pivotal role in shaping that journey.

The Records Management Manager will lead the development and implementation of our records management framework, ensuring we meet statutory requirements, national standards and best practice across both digital and physical records. Working within the Governance & Risk function, you'll partner closely with colleagues in Information Governance, Data Protection and across all services to embed consistent, compliant and efficient information practices.

You will also have strategic oversight of the Trust's Information Asset Register (IAR), ensuring it is accurate, actively used, and adds real value to decision‑making, risk management and audit activity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys influencing, driving change and supporting others to improve their information management culture.

Our strategic vision and values are upheld across the Trust, fostering a reliable and supportive environment for both staff and the children in our care.

Our approach is rooted in restorative and relational practice, fostering trust, mutual respect, and meaningful relationships with children, families, and professionals.

You'll also:

* Lead and maintain the Trust's Information Asset Register, ensuring high‑quality information, active use and effective assurance.
* Ensure best‑practice lifecycle management of records, from creation and storage through to retention, archiving and disposal.
* Provide expert advice and challenge to services on records management, retention and compliance with relevant legislation (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI).
* Advise on records management implications of system changes, procurements and service transformation.
* Work closely with IG and Data Protection teams to manage information risks, incidents and improvement activity.
* Support internal and external audits and inspections relating to information management.
* Lead the development, implementation and ongoing review of the Trust's Records Management Policy and supporting procedures.
* Deliver training and awareness activities for staff and Information Asset Owners.
* Drive a positive culture of accountability, transparency and good record‑keeping.
* Horizon scan to identify emerging risks, opportunities and best practice in records and information management.

To be successful in this role you will need:

* Experience developing, maintaining or assuring an Information Asset Register.
* Proven experience in records management, information governance or a related field.
* Strong understanding of information lifecycle management, retention scheduling and records management principles.
* Working knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information Act 2000.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels.
* Ability to translate complex requirements into clear, practical guidance.
* Strong partnership working skills and the confidence to lead improvements in a complex organisation.
* Good IT literacy, including use of Microsoft 365.
* A relevant qualification or equivalent professional experience.
* The legal right to work in the UK for the full duration of this fixed‑term contract.

You'll also be joining an organisation that truly values its people, offering a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing, growth, and work-life balance, including:

* Generous annual leave - 31 days rising to 34 with service, plus bank holidays
* Excellent Local Government pension
* Family-friendly policies and enhanced parental leave
* Health & wellbeing support, including Occupational Health and counselling
