A striving and revolutionary secondary school in Colchester is seeking to appoint an outstanding and driven Head of Design & Technology to lead and develop a successful DT department to start in April Term.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced DT teacher with strong subject knowledge and leadership skills to shape a creative, innovative, and high-performing department.
The Role:
Lead and manage the Design & Technology department across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
Develop and implement a broad, engaging, and industry-relevant DT curriculum
Drive high standards of teaching, learning, and pupil achievement
Line manage and support DT staff, promoting professional growth
Oversee health & safety compliance within workshops and practical spaces
Manage departmental resources, budgeting, and development planningThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in Design & Technology or a related specialism (e.g. Product Design, Engineering, Resistant Materials, Food Technology, Graphics)
Proven experience teaching DT at secondary level
Leadership experience or readiness to step into a middle leadership role
Strong organisational skills and a commitment to high standards
Excellent knowledge of workshop safety and practical classroom management
