1:1 Teaching Assistant – Daily Living & Communication Support (Sunderland)

Salary: £89–£110 per day
Do you love connecting with students one-to-one and helping them find their voice?
We’re looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a secondary-age pupil with autism and communication needs. The focus here is daily life skills — helping your student navigate routines, build confidence, and develop independence at their own pace.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Supporting one pupil throughout the day in lessons and practical sessions
2. Encouraging communication using visual aids, symbols, and patience
3. Helping with activities like cooking, shopping, and travel training
4. Working closely with the class teacher and therapy team to follow personalised plans
The ideal candidate:
5. Has experience in SEN or care-based environments
6. Brings empathy, reliability, and positivity every day
7. Understands that progress looks different for everyone

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
