About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Genetic Counsellor or Metagenomics Counsellor with a strong background in clinical genetics, microbiome interpretation and patient communication. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping clients understand their genomic and microbiome test results, supporting them through data interpretation and personalised health planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one genetic and metagenomic counselling sessions in person or virtually
• Interpret genomic, metagenomic and microbiome results in collaboration with clinical scientists and the bioinformatics team
• Communicate complex data in a clear and empathetic manner to help clients make informed health decisions
• Support the development of report content and clinical summaries for Phenome Longevity test kits
• Work closely with nutritionists, healthcare practitioners and researchers to ensure integrated and patient-centred care
• Maintain accurate client documentation and adhere to UK data privacy and ethical standards
• Contribute to ongoing research and clinical education projects within the company
Requirements
• MSc in Genetic Counselling, Genomic Medicine or an equivalent postgraduate qualification
• Registration with GCRB or HCPC preferred
• Experience within NHS Genomic Services, clinical genetics or metagenomics is highly desirable
• Familiarity with rare disease genetics, including diagnostic workflows and patient communication in complex cases
• Strong understanding of genomic sequencing, variant interpretation and microbiome profiling
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on compassionate, evidence-based guidance
Preferred Skills
• Experience in rare disease analysis, variant curation and clinical report generation
• Background in multi-omics, functional medicine or systems biology
• Familiarity with digital health and teleconsultation platforms
• Interest in longevity science, precision medicine and preventive health technologies
