Job Description
We are now seeking a Transport Shift Manager to join our Transport team at our Goole site on a full-time permanent basis.
As a Transport Shift Manager, you will work collaboratively to ensure the effective running of a busy transport operation, ensuring that operational KPIs are met and that the operations are conducted strictly in accordance with legal requirements. You will help formulate and deliver short, medium, and long-term resource plans for your area.
Working hours: 4 on 4 off, 06:00-18:00.
Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum
Key Duties of Transport Shift Manager
* Work collaboratively with our Myworkforce team ensuring compliance of all MWF activity and tasks including resource planning and managing the safety and cost-effective utilization of all drivers and equipment.
* Responsible for owning, monitoring, and controlling the driver de-briefing process to ensure that agreed standards of performance are consistently achieved through effective communication and management.
* Manage and support driver workforce, ensuring full legal compliance, proper record-keeping, and performance management.
* Promote company health & safety and employment policies within the transport operation.
* Ensure all personnel files are up to date, including license validation, personal details, and completed training.
* Conduct site audits and work closely with the Transport Manager to meet KPIs.
* Support daily operational workflow on the customer site by providing timely answers to urgent queries.
* Collaborate with the customer and site management team to address performance concerns.
* Manage recruitment of staff to cover business peaks.
* Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses, and ensure relevant reports are completed.
* Identify and escalate maintenance and repair issues on site and within the depot.
* Oversee daily vehicle checks, inspections, and defect reporting procedures.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in the Transport & Logistics industry.
* Successful resource management experience.
* Excellent organization and communication skills.
* Experience working with service delivery KPIs.
* Strong understanding of health and safety processes.
* Energetic with a desire to generate improvements.
* Good people engagement skills, self-driven, positive attitude.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment.
