Reporting to: Head of External Affairs
Management Responsibility: Coordination of a small press team, alongside management of external agencies, suppliers and freelance support where required.
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

Purpose of the Role
A membership organisation operating within a regulated sector is seeking a Media & Campaigns Manager to help lead on media relations and communications.
The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping and delivering strategic communications activity, working across teams to ensure our client’s messaging is heard in a crowded market.
The role combines hands-on press office delivery with proactive campaign development and relationship-building across national, regional and trade media.
This is a high-profile role working closely with senior leadership, with responsibility for coordinating a small press function and helping to build new and maintain current relationships with journalists and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day media relations activity, including responding to press enquiries, drafting statements, arranging interviews and preparing senior spokespeople.
* Build on work already done to improve quantity and quality of media contacts relevant to the organisation’s work.
* Identify opportunities to secure positive coverage and raise organisational profile, generating media opportunities, editorial content and thought leadership activity aligned to strategic priorities.
* Coordinate and support a small press team, ensuring effective delivery of reactive and proactive communications activity.
* Draft and edit press releases, briefing materials, comment pieces, Q&As, articles and wider external communications content.
* Support communications planning across integrated campaigns, working closely with colleagues across policy, public affairs and events functions.
* Provide communications and media advice to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership, external partners and the organisation’s members, including support during sensitive or high-profile issues.
* Monitor media coverage, trends and stakeholder sentiment, providing analysis and insight to support strategic communications planning.
* Support delivery of social media and digital communications activity, helping to create engaging content and monitor performance across channels.
* Contribute to speeches, newsletters, publications and wider organisational communications activity where required.
Skills & Experience
* Strong media relations experience, with a proven ability to build journalist relationships, shape narratives and secure impactful coverage.
* Experience coordinating press office activity or supporting small communications teams.
* Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and engaging content for a variety of audiences.
* Demonstrable experience of developing proactive campaigns and identifying media opportunities.
* Strong understanding of communications within a political, regulatory or membership environment.
* Experience managing social media channels and digital content.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
* Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, media contacts and external partners.
* Comfortable handling sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
* Creative, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Experience Required
* Approximately 5–7 years’ experience within media relations, press office, communications or campaigns roles.
* Experience advising senior stakeholders and supporting high-profile communications activity.
* Experience within regulated sectors, financial services or membership organisations.
