Java Software Engineer - Retail Banking (Contract)

Overview
We are looking for multiple experienced Java Software Engineers (up to 9 roles) to join a high-performing engineering team within a leading retail banking organisation. You will be working on modern, cloud-native platforms delivering scalable digital banking solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to customer-facing applications, with a strong focus on microservices architecture, continuous delivery, and full-stack development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, and maintain microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot
2. Build scalable and resilient solutions aligned with modern engineering best practices
3. Develop engaging user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript frameworks
4. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and drive Continuous Deployment practices
5. Deliver production-ready, cloud-native solutions on AWS
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and QA
7. Ensure code quality through testing, automation, and code reviews
Required Skills & Experience
8. Strong hands-on experience with Java (core) and Spring Boot
9. Proven track record building and maintaining microservices architectures
10. Solid front-end development experience using React and modern JavaScript
11. Experience working in CI/CD environments with Continuous Deployment
12. Strong understanding of cloud-based development (AWS preferred)
13. Experience delivering production-grade applications in agile environments
Desirable Experience
14. Exposure to mobile banking platforms or digital banking products
15. Experience within financial services / retail banking environments
16. Knowledge of DevOps practices and tooling
