Bank - Band 4 Medical Laboratory Assistant

Key working relationships:
Effective communication with Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists, Clinicians, healthcare providers, managers, and other Trust departments is essential. Participation in local and divisional laboratory meetings is expected.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include:
1. Assisting registered Healthcare Scientists in delivering professional laboratory services.
2. Contributing to the efficient operation of the department.
3. Providing basic clinical technical services, including research and audit samples.

Job responsibilities
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Communication and Relationship Skills

2. Scientific and Technical Duties
* Work under supervision, organizing own tasks.
* Perform laboratory tests following SOPs.
* Maintain documentation to Trust standards.
* Resolve basic problems or escalate as needed.
* Sort, label, and aliquot specimens accurately.
* Prioritize urgent work.
* Prepare solutions and perform quality assurance.
3. Policy and Service Responsibilities
* Follow Trust policies and procedures.
* Ensure health and safety compliance.
* Report incidents or complaints.
* Maintain accreditation standards.
4. Physical and Financial Responsibilities
* Replace consumables and inform management of stock levels.
5. Staff/HR/Leadership and Training
* Participate in 1:1 meetings and PDP development.
* Assist in training new staff and on rotation.
6. Information Resources
* Undertake training for electronic systems.
* Maintain an active email account.
7. Patient/Client Care
* Enter patient data and test results into the system.
8. Research and Development
* Participate in data collection for audits and research.
9. Freedom to Act
* Work under supervision with some autonomy in organizing tasks.
10. Other Duties
* Perform additional duties as required.
