We are looking for someone who is a great role model to the team and who is confident of their clinical skills in an urgent care setting, supports best practice, person centred care and able to monitor governance that promotes patient and staff safety.
The leadership position is based at Townlands Hospital, Henley on Thames and the Oxford GP Out of Hours service. You will be expected to travel and work across both sites.
Henley MIU/GP Out of Hours provides acute minor injury care 7 days a week and manages urgent primary care cases referred via 111 when GP surgeries are closed.
The Oxford GP Out of Hours service, located at East Oxford Health Centre, delivers urgent primary care outside regular GP and pharmacy hours.
As a clinically credible and visible clinical lead, you will collaborate with the leadership team to advance clinical practice across both sites. The role supports the delivery of appropriate care within the local healthcare system and includes dedicated clinical management days.
Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.
Main duties of the job
As the Clinical Lead for the Henley team and Oxford Out of Hours bases you will provide operational and clinical leadership to both sites to provide the following
* Effective, compassionate, and inclusive leadership and line management of staff
* Clinical audit with a focus upon driving high standards of care
* Support to the infection and prevention and control team to ensure excellent IPC standards are achieved and maintained
* Work closely with the quality and patient safety teams to ensure that safe and effective patient care is delivered, and learning taken forward
* Lead the clinical development of the services in line with national guidelines and developments in the evidence base
* Ensure arrangements are in place for all service members to receive regular supervision, performance development review and training needs identified and where possible, met
* Lead & motivate staff to provide a pro-active and responsive high-quality service, contributing to ongoing audit and evaluation.
* Ensure that the necessary systems & protocols for the delivery of a safe & supportive service are in place, understood & adhered to throughout the Service.
* Ensure that effective communications systems are established, maintained and monitored regularly within the Service & between the Teams & other services/agencies/partners.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered General Nurse or Registered Paramedic
* Minor Injury Management Course at Level 6/7 or equivalent
* ILS
* Minor Illness Management Course at level 6/7 or equivalent
* Leadership qualification in healthcare or equivalent experience
Experience
* Competence in Minor Injury and Illness management
* Experience in leadership in Healthcare
Knowledge
* Significant experience at Band 6 equivalent in Urgent/ Unscheduled Care. Experience with mentoring students
* Competent in using Evidence Based Practice
* Experience in the development of clinical protocols
* Leadership experience working with multiple teams to support service delivery
* Experience working in MDT
* Experience working with mentor junior staff/nurse associates
