The Recipe


To ensure Centre Banking, Expenses and other Accounting processes are completed accurately, in line with accounting procedures and in a timely manner.


Key Accountabilities and Measures

* To ensure banking transactions payments are made accurately and in a timely manner.
* Preparation of weekly and period end journals and performing routine tasks during the financial period
* Reconciliation of the Period End Balance Sheet Accounts and leading investigation of differences.
* Completion of Office for National Statistics and other regulatory returns. Provision of information to government and regulatory bodies when requested.
* Preparation of the VAT return and maintenance of the VAT ledgers
* To understand the current expenses system and continue to improve the efficiency of the process.
* To provide excellent customers service to internal and external customers.
* To support the Finance Manager and Management Accountant on ad hoc duties associated with the role and changing requirements of the business.


Essential Ingredients

* GCSEs in Maths & English, Grade A – C or equivalent
* Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop Finance and Accounting skills.
* Willing to commit to learning on the job and travel to college to complete AAT apprenticeship
* Proficient in excel, word and PowerPoint and good general IT skills
* Provides customer service to a high standard
* Good problem-solving skills
* Ability to work within a team to help deliver objectives
* Confident telephone manner and good negotiation/communication skills to be able to develop positive working relationships with internal and external customers/departments.
* Ability to work in an organised manner and manage own time to achieve tight deadlines on a regular basis (weekly and monthly).
