Southwark Council is seeking an interim Head of Age Well to lead a jointly funded commissioning team (Southwark Council and SELICS) focused on older, frail, and physically disabled residents across the borough. Based at 160Tooley Street, SE1, this is a senior interim role paying £305.08–£425.00 per day, starting 6July2026.
The post holder will lead a commissioning team delivering a complex programme of work centred on core health and care priorities for older people in Southwark and South East London. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Integrated Commissioning, you will take responsibility for developing and implementing a commissioning plan across the division, rationalising current commissioning arrangements, and tackling health and wellbeing inequalities across the borough.
Essential requirements include demonstrable experience of working in the NHS or an integrated commissioning function, and proven experience of managing NHS Continuing Health Care (CHC) teams and Better Care Fund (BCF) initiatives — including developing BCF proposals and reporting to NHS England. You will build strong collaborative relationships across Southwark Council, the wider health system, voluntary sector, commissioned providers, and through Partnership Southwark. You will also engage with Public Health Consultants, Heads of Programme, and Policy Officers, and contribute to the professional development of your team.
