The Role
We are currently recruiting Electrical Design Engineers of all levels to join our in-house design team based in Southampton. We are a friendly, professional, multi-disciplined team responsible for managing the design of various projects across the water and energy sectors. We welcome applications from individuals experienced in the water and/or wastewater sectors. Hybrid working is available, with an expectation of being in the office 2-3 days per week and conducting client/site visits as required.
Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing project-specific design deliverables
2. Carrying out designs in accordance with M&E Design QA procedures
3. Producing detailed designs following company procedures
4. Interpreting client requirements from documents such as drawings, specifications, and correspondence
5. Communicating with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance
6. Conducting site surveys of existing assets
7. Performing optioneering and feasibility studies
8. Assisting with tender pricing
9. Producing procurement specifications and detailed construction drawings
10. Managing third-party designs and supporting installation and commissioning teams
11. Reviewing vendor control system specifications for compliance
12. Reviewing vendor data and drawings for electrical equipment and packages
13. Managing project-specific design costs in coordination with the Project Manager
14. Performing and verifying design calculations, including power system modeling (AMTECH)
15. Preparing drawings for CAD production following QA procedures
16. Developing process control philosophies with engineers and suppliers
17. Producing URS documentation
18. Creating electrical scope and enquiry submission documents
19. Estimating material and labor costs
20. Undertaking design risk assessments
21. Preparing detailed electrical specifications
22. Producing single line diagrams, load schedules, and various equipment and schedule documents
23. Documenting all design changes and issuing 'As Built' documents
24. Liaising with clients and subcontractors
Qualifications/Background
* An appropriate electrical qualification or relevant experience
* Chartered membership of a professional institution is advantageous but not essential
