Job overview
Qualified staff will perform a range of scientific procedures on biological samples to support the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases and the investigation of pathological processes.
Main responsibilities
As a Pathology Support Worker in the Pathology Department, you will:
* Apply pre‑analytical specimen preparation procedures.
* Operate a range of laboratory equipment and perform routine departmental procedures and tests.
* Work within a team of Biomedical Scientists and support workers following Standard Operating Procedures.
* Maintain competency through training and assessment under qualified staff guidance.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grades A‑C (including Maths and English) and/or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
Experience
* Previous laboratory experience.
Skills
* Effective communication.
* Hand‑eye coordination and accuracy.
