Insight Executive is exclusively supporting the UK Parliament with three specialist engineering appointments. This second role is a standout opportunity: Senior Electrical Engineer within the Property & Asset Strategy team, the group that keeps the Parliamentary Estate safe, resilient, and future ready.
Working at the heart of Westminster, you’ll help make Parliament happen by shaping how electrical infrastructure performs across heritage buildings, high-security environments, and modernised spaces.
The Opportunity
As Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll be the go-to expert on low-voltage infrastructure, lighting systems, lifts and escalators, and electrical resilience across the Estate.
You’ll guide long-term strategy, lead technical assurance, support major programmes, and act as the “informed client” for feasibility work and improvement projects. You’ll also help shape design standards, influence project teams, and support Parliament’s drive for safety, sustainability and world class asset management.
This is a senior, trusted and collaborative position with meaningful national purpose.
You’ll make an impact by:
• Shaping lifecycle strategy for LV distribution, lifts, lighting and life-safety systems
• Leading feasibility studies and advising on upgrades, resilience and futureproofing
• Setting and maintaining Parliament’s electrical design guides and standards
• Providing expert guidance to project teams and contractors
• Overseeing testing, commissioning and sign-off for critical infrastructure
• Influencing decisions across conservation, safety, sustainability and operations
What you’ll bring
• CEng or IEng status (IET or similar), plus degree in Electrical Engineering
• Strong experience with LV systems across multi-building estates
• Ability to oversee installation, testing and commissioning for complex services
• Confident communicator who can influence across senior stakeholders
• Understanding of NEC contracts, RIBA stages, public procurement and listed-building constraints
• Collaborative, respectful working style aligned with Parliament’s values
