About the Role
Leeds City College is seeking a Financial Welfare Advice Officer to provide high-quality, professional advice supporting student retention and progression.
The service aims to reduce barriers to education and empower students to build resilience against life challenges related to financial welfare.
The post holder will meet students and advise on financial issues such as money worries, funding, benefit claims, housing, and childcare options. The team also trains staff to provide financial information and signposting, and develops financial education through sessions and campaigns.
What You Will Do
1. Advise students on financial welfare issues through various channels, managing a caseload based on need and urgency.
2. Enhance staff and student knowledge of financial welfare support through activities and events.
3. Create and maintain informational resources on financial matters.
4. Keep up-to-date with welfare issues.
5. Accurately document advice given and track outcomes, liaising with tutors for additional support if needed.
6. Participate in supervision and case review processes.
7. Provide data for reports.
About You
* Experience delivering financial advice, preferably to students.
* Experience working with vulnerable groups.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
* Strong organizational and administrative skills.
* Ability to produce diverse financial information resources.
* Capable of planning, delivering, and evaluating group activities and sessions independently.
* Effective team player with the ability to work independently and meet targets.
* Minimum literacy and numeracy at Level 2.
* Active listener with empathy and a non-judgemental approach.
* Skilled in exploring issues through appropriate questioning and explaining complex information clearly.
