RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise & Strategic Technical Leadership
1. Serve as the primary technical authority for complex, high-value, and strategically significant sales opportunities, including channel, enterprise and global accounts.
2. Advise executive-level customer stakeholders on architectural decisions, security posture, integrations, and long-term platform strategy.
3. Act as a trusted technical advisor to internal sales leadership on deal strategy, risk assessment, and solution positioning.
4. Define and lead advanced solution architectures, custom integrations, and proof-of-concept engagements that address ambiguous, multi-system customer requirements.
5. Set technical standards for demonstrations, pilots, and solution validation efforts across the Sales Engineering organization.
6. Own and guide resolution of non-standard, high-risk technical challenges with accountability for outcomes that impact revenue and customer trust.
7. Organizational Thought Leadership
8. Establish best practices, methodologies, and technical frameworks used by the broader Sales Engineering team.
9. Influence company-wide technical selling strategy, including how Matterport positions security, integrations, data workflows, and platform extensibility.
10. Serve as a recognized internal subject matter expert across 3D capture, spatial data workflows, cloud architecture, and enterprise integrations.
Cross-Functional Influence
11. Provide authoritative field insight to Product Management, Product Marketing, Security, and R&D to shape roadmap prioritization, enterprise readiness, and competitive differentiation.
12. Translate customer and partner needs into actionable product and platform recommendations with clear business rationale.
13. Contribute to broader organizational initiatives that require deep technical and commercial judgment.
Enablement & Technical Mentorship
14. Design and deliver advanced technical training programs for Sales Engineers, Account Executives, and strategic partners.
15. Mentor junior and mid-level Sales Engineers, raising the overall technical bar of the organization.
16. Guide onboarding and development frameworks to support scale, consistency, and technical excellence.
Security & Risk Leadership
17. Lead enterprise-level security, privacy, and compliance discussions with customers and partners.
18. Act as a technical escalation point for security-related inquiries and solution reviews.
19. Partner with internal security and legal stakeholders to align customer requirements with Matterport’s policies and capabilities.
20. External Representation
21. Represent Matterport as a technical thought leader at industry events, executive briefings, webinars, and conferences.
22. Engage with strategic partners and ecosystem vendors to define joint solution approaches and integration strategies.
Leadership Continuity
23. Provide leadership coverage and decision-making support during manager absences.
24. May direct or coordinate the activities of other Sales Engineers on complex initiatives without formal people-management responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
25. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
26. In-depth experience supporting B2B SaaS solutions in a pre-sales or technical consulting capacity, with demonstrated enterprise-level impact.
27. Proven history of long-term commitment and progression within prior organizations.
28. Exceptional executive-level communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders across functions and seniority levels.
29. Experience with APIs, SDKs, and custom integrations, including hands-on prototyping using technologies such as JavaScript and GraphQL.
30. Advanced understanding of 3D data types (models, point clouds, imagery) and the workflows customers use to operationalize spatial data.
31. Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, security architecture, and authentication technologies (e.g., AWS, SAML, OAuth).
32. Working understanding of machine learning and AI concepts as applied to data-driven products.
33. Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as business needs require.
34. In addition to requirement for English, either French or German is highly preferred, Spanish or Italian would also be advantageous.
35. Extensive expertise in reality capture technologies and the competitive landscape.
36. Deep knowledge of the Matterport platform, ecosystem integrations, and partner offerings.
37. Advanced familiarity with 3D modelling, visualization, and construction/engineering platforms such as Autodesk, SketchUp, Procore, PlanGrid, Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar.
38. Experience shaping technical strategy for large partners or enterprise customers.
39. Recognized externally or internally as a subject matter expert in spatial data or related technologies.
