Salary: £26,000-£28,000 pro rota dependant on experience. Plus pension (on completion of 3 month probationary period)
Based: Heel & Toe Main Therapy Centre, Pelton, Chester-le-Street
Period: Permanent position
Hours: 18 hours (flexible working days)
Annual Leave: 28 days per annum, pro rata
Purpose
There has never been a more exciting time to join Heel & Toe Children's Charity. We are a regional charity that is in our 18th year. We own and operate from two therapy buildings in the Chester-le-Street area. We offer disabled children a wide range of free and subsidised therapies, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, hippotherapy, sensory integration, massage therapy and movement group sessions.
The Communications Officer at Heel & Toe Children's Charity is responsible for promoting the charity's work, raising awareness, and engaging supporters through clear, creative, and consistent communication. The role involves managing the charity's public relations, website content, and social media platforms, as well as creating engaging marketing materials and creative video content to showcase the impact of Heel & Toe's services. Working closely with the wider team, the Officer ensures that all communications reflect the charity's values and mission, strengthen its brand, and support fundraising, events, and community engagement to help improve outcomes for the children and families the charity supports.
Key Responsibilities
Create eye-catching and inspiring social media posts to encourage call to action
Analyse social media stats
Use design skills to produce promotional materials for the fundraising team to advertise events and fundraising opportunities
Manage website content and updates
Design informative e-bulletins and analysis stats
Create videos to encourage support and showcase service user's stories
Set up photo opportunities to promote therapies and fundraising activities
Raise awareness through third party platforms
Attend support groups and exhibitions to raise awareness of H&T services
Support the fundraising team and therapy team in raising awareness
Liaise with Healthcare professionals and other Healthcare providers/organisations/charities at various meetings across the North East SEND networks.
It is essential that you have previous experience and confidence in public speaking. This includes; delivering PowerPoint presentations which promote the services Heel & Toe currently provides and networking amongst parents/carers and other SEND service providers/organisations.
Maintain current relationships and create new contacts with SEND contacts and HCP's (Healthcare Professionals), sharing services and opportunities with H&T parents.
Essential Qualifications
A degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Media, Digital Media, or a related field.
Professional training or certifications in digital marketing, social media management, or graphic/video content creation are a plus.
Essential Experience
Proven experience in communications, marketing, or PR, ideally within a charity, non-profit, or similar sector.
Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin), website content (WordPress), and digital campaigns.
Practical skills in content creation, including writing, video production, photography, and design.
Strong interpersonal skills and experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
Competence in using communications and marketing tools, such as email marketing software, social media analytics tools and databases.
Experience and confidence in public speaking and external/internal presentations.
