Teacher - Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Stockport
Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting experienced and resilient Teachers to work in a Secondary Pupil Referral Unit based in Stockport, supporting young people who require an alternative approach to mainstream education.
This role involves teaching GCSE-aged students who may present with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or have experienced barriers to education. You will deliver engaging, structured lessons designed to re-engage pupils and support both academic and personal development.
The role will include:
1. Teaching small groups or providing 1:1 tuition to secondary-aged pupils
2. Delivering core subjects (English, Maths, and/or Science) at KS3 and GCSE level
3. Planning differentiated lessons to meet individual learning and behavioural needs
4. Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
5. Working closely with PRU staff, families, and external professionals
Essential requirements:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
7. Previous experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or with vulnerable learners
8. Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, adaptable approach
9. Ability to build positive relationships with disengaged learners
Desirable training and experience:
10. Team Teach or positive behaviour management training
11. Trauma-informed practice
12. Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour
13. Knowledge of safeguarding and alternative provision frameworks
