Oak Lodge School is a special academy managed by Barnet Special Education Trust.
For the academy year 2024-25, we are funded for 200 places for students aged 11-19 with a wide range of learning difficulties. We are currently oversubscribed.
The quality of our Autism practice has been awarded Advanced Status by the Autism Accreditation Award Committee of the National Autistic Society and we have also been judged 'Outstanding' in three successive OFSTED inspections, both as a maintained school and as an academy. Permanent SEND Art Teacher
Overview
Oak Lodge School are seeking an Art, Design and Digital Media teacher to join our friendly team from September 2025. We are an outstanding secondary special school based in East Finchley and we pride ourselves on the excellent care and support we provide to our young people (Ofsted 2025). This post would be well suited to experienced SEND practitioners who have a keen interest in teaching art (and good digital art skills) or mainstream art teachers looking to creatively plan and deliver their subject to learners with a wide range of special educational needs (learning disabilities, physical disabilities and social /communication needs). Art subjects have historically been an area where our students have been able to excel, and we would like our students to continue to have this opportunity by using innovative digital media technologies which can make this subject more accessible for our learners.
Applicants will:
- Have QTS status and either specialist subject knowledge or experience of working with young people with SEND and a strong interest in delivering art and digital media.
- Believe, inspire and achieve.
- Enjoy developing positive relationships with our students, providing a model of excellence in terms of teaching & learning.
- Have an enthusiasm for new evidence-based approaches including the implementation of your ideas.
- Be reflective practitioners with a "can do" approach to teaching and with a passion to raise standards.
- Be able to support all students to believe they have the potential to thrive creatively, academically, socially and emotionally.
- Be ambitious, professional and committed to further personal development and committed to working as part of a dynamic team of professionals both in and out of the classroom.
Salary from £36413 to £53994 per year
