Our client, a leading water sector specialist are seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Project Engineer to work out of Paddington, London. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the design and delivery of mechanical systems in alignment with Thames Water’s operational and technical requirements.
This role would be best suited to an individual with 3-5 years experience who is looking to further develop their career and received tailored support to become a competent multi-discipline engineer. Candidates will need to have both site/project and design experience.
Water sector experience is essential to be considered for this role
Key Responsibilities:
* Produce and review mechanical design documentation including:
-Pumping systems
-Pipework layouts
-Filtration units
-Water and wastewater treatment systems
* Work closely with civil and electrical engineering teams to develop integrated solutions.
* Attend regular client meetings (e.g., weekly progress updates, hazard reviews).
* Support stakeholder communication and ensure design solutions align with client expectations.
* Engage with the supply chain for the specification and procurement of mechanical equipment.
* Conduct site visits for surveys and inspections.
* Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience in the design of mechanical systems within the water or wastewater sectors.
* Knowledge of UK water industry standards and practices (e.g., WIMES).
* Ability to interpret and produce P&IDs, layout drawings, and technical specifications.
* Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and client engagement.
* Full UK driving license (for site travel).
* Familiarity with 3D design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit).
