Right, firstly, let’s address the elephant in the JD - the salary.
We know this might come in a little below some commercial roles at this level but this isn’t your typical lender, and this is one of the most meaningful roles we’ve worked on.
It’s a senior leadership position at a social lender who are doing truly brilliant work. They’re changing lives through better lending and since launching, they’ve provided over 375,000 loans to low-income households across the UK, helping families buy essential items when traditional credit simply isn’t an option. Their model has already delivered more than £1bn in social value, and they’re just getting started.
Now, they’re looking for a new Chief Credit Risk Officer to help shape the next phase of that journey.
This is a strategic, high-impact role that covers credit risk, underwriting and collections. You’ll oversee the full customer journey from application through to repayment or closure, and take ownership of the loan book’s quality and profitability. You’ll be scaling what works, improving what doesn’t, and making sure risk is managed in a way that’s smart, ethical and commercially sound.
As part of the senior leadership team, you’ll be the voice of the loan book both inside and outside the business. You’ll lead the Customer Experience team, work closely with their Credit Risk Analyst and external partners, and report directly to the CEO. You’ll also play a big part in helping them scale two of their core products while phasing out a third, which means a shift in product mix and credit exposure that needs careful, confident management.
You’ll need a strong background in credit risk, lending or banking, ideally with experience in sub-prime or financial inclusion. But just as importantly, you’ll care deeply about what this organisation stands for and want to use your skills to build something fairer.
So, if you have:
* Senior-level experience in credit risk, lending or collections
* A strategic mindset and the ability to lead change while scaling impact
* Strong data and risk modelling knowledge, including scorecard development
* A solid understanding of regulatory requirements and how to build policies that support growth
* A real belief in using credit as a force for good
And can:
* Lead lending, collections and credit risk strategies that balance mission with margin
* Manage teams, data and third parties to deliver better outcomes for customers
* Shape credit policies that are robust, scalable and aligned with regulation
* Be the go-to on credit performance at board level and with investors
* Champion innovation and help bring in new ideas and products in the right way
Then we’d love to hear from you - and so will they!
This is a role with real purpose. One where you’ll go home each day knowing the work you do has made someone’s life just that little bit easier.
If that sounds like the kind of challenge you’re after, drop us a message and we’ll tell you more.
