Job Description
Job Description:
Are you a people-first leader who thrives on building teams and driving results?
We’re looking for a Practice Manager who wants to lead a growing dental practice — someone who’s energised by clear targets, daily accountability, and making a real impact.
About Us
Green Oakham Dental Care is a well-established, five-surgery mixed practice based in Oakham, Rutland. We’ve got a friendly, committed team, a loyal patient base, and we’re investing in our people, our technology, and our patient experience. We’re entering a genuine growth phase — and this role is central to making that happen. If you’re looking for a practice where your contribution is visible and valued, not lost in a corporate chain, this could be the right fit.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the daily running of the practice — leading our front-of-house team, overseeing HR, driving diary utilisation, and managing revenue-generating activities. You’ll report directly to our Principal Dentist and work closely with our Clinical Operations Lead and a strategic business partner. We run a structured day: morning huddles, midday check-ins, and an end-of-day leadership review. You’ll lead the front-of-house huddle, set daily tasks for your team, and be accountable for delivery.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and manage a front-of-house team of 3 — daily tasking, performance management, and development
* Own HR end-to-end: recruitment, onboarding, contracts, 1:1s, disciplinaries, and performance reviews for all non-clinical staff
* Drive diary utilisation — gap-filling, appointment optimisation, and scheduling efficiency
* Manage revenue-generating activities: lead follow-up, payment plan oversight, and membership plan execution
* Handle non-clinical complaints as the first escalation point
* Oversee invoicing, payment reconciliation, and day-to-day financial and systems administration
* Execute against KPIs — diary utilisation, revenue targets, staff retention, and complaint resolution
* Support CQC compliance: maintain non-clinical policies, staff training records, and audit-readiness
* Coordinate health and safety requirements: fire risk assessments, COSHH, risk assessments, and workplace compliance
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
o Experience managing a team — running 1:1s, setting expectations, and holding people accountable
o Confident handling sensitive HR matters including disciplinaries, underperformance, and complaints
o Highly organised and process-driven — comfortable implementing and following SOPs
o Happy working in a structured, target-driven environment with daily check-ins
o A strong communicator who can brief a team clearly and report back with confidence
o Available full-time, five days a week, in-practice
Desirable:
o Experience in a dental practice or healthcare setting (but not essential — strong managers from other sectors are welcome)
o Familiarity with Dentally or similar practice management software
o Understanding of NHS/private mixed model dental practices
o Experience with lead management, patient conversion, or membership/payment plan administration
o Awareness of CQC requirements and health and safety compliance in a healthcare setting
What We Offer
o Base salary of £35,000
o Performance bonus of up to £10,000 per year, tied to clear KPIs (diary utilisation, revenue, retention, complaints)
o Total package of up to £45,000 — competitive for the dental practice management market
o 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays
o Workplace pension
o Support for professional development and relevant training
o Regular team events
o A genuine leadership role with direct reports and real autonomy over daily operations
o A practice in growth mode — as the practice grows, so does this role
Why This Role Is Different
You won’t be one of hundreds of practice managers in a corporate chain. You’ll be the Practice Manager — with genuine ownership of how the practice runs day-to-day. You’ll have a supportive leadership team around you, clear targets to aim for, and the space to make this role your own. If you’ve been looking for somewhere you can make a visible impact, we’d love to hear from you.
Job Type: Full-time
Benefits:
o Company events
o Employee discount
o Health & wellbeing programme
