A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Design Engineer
* Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design, review, estimation, site supervision, and support as required.
* Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.
* Prepare plant and equipment technical specifications, power cable route specifications, tender specifications, technical and progress reports.
* Ensure correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects, attend and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
* Perform technical calculations including cable sizing, rating calculations, TMF and EMF calculations, sheath-induced voltage calculations, and others.
* Ensure all project designs comply with CDM regulations, relevant legislation, and company procedures.
* Ensure drawings and specifications contain sufficient, accurate information for construction, requesting missing details timely to avoid delays.
* Hold a Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
* Have detailed design experience in HV cabling projects.
* Coordinate HV Cable Works design and interfaces throughout the project lifecycle, including development of drawings and calculations.
* Understand the commercial and technical issues in undertaking large-scale construction projects.
* Communicate effectively with engineers across various levels and disciplines.
