The organization provides individualized and compassionate services to individuals facing developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness across more than 175 program sites in Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Job Summary: The Safety Monitor promotes a safe and inclusive environment, supports the agency’s mission, and addresses community concerns proactively and professionally. This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions of the Position:
1. Monitor and support the wellbeing of individuals, families, staff, and community members.
2. Assist in providing access to agency services and ensure proper authorization for entry.
3. Help individuals locate and reach their destinations within the agency.
4. Regularly monitor conditions in service and administrative areas.
5. Communicate effectively with staff regarding activities and respond promptly to issues.
6. Document events and incidents accurately as per agency protocol.
7. Collaborate with staff to address safety concerns and participate in team solutions.
8. Support individuals through de-escalation and intervention techniques when necessary.
9. Coordinate with public safety services as needed.
10. Maintain professional boundaries and relationships with those served.
11. Represent Bay Cove Human Services as a community partner and neighbor.
12. Build relationships with local businesses to aid in conflict resolution, as needed.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or GED.
* Experience working with vulnerable populations.
* Experience with de-escalation techniques or crisis intervention preferred.
Physical Qualifications:
* Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds.
* Visual abilities include close and peripheral vision.
* Regular standing and walking required.
* Assist with operating the wheelchair lift as needed.
