Job Overview
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a focus on commercial driving and delivery operations. The ideal applicant will possess a valid HGV licence, with previous experience in delivery driving being highly desirable. You will play a vital part in maintaining our reputation for reliable and timely deliveries.
Duties
* Operate curtain sided trailer and unit combination and other HGV vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance
* Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling of goods during transit
* Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while adhering to legal driving hours
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance reports
* Comply with all traffic laws, health and safety regulations, and company procedures during all driving activities
* Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery times or any issues encountered on route
Qualifications
* Valid HGV Class 1 licence (C+E entitlement) with a clean driving record
* Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with curtain sided vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles
* Delivery driver experience is highly advantageous
* Good knowledge of road networks and navigation tools within the Greater Glasgow Area.
* Ability to handle physical tasks involved in loading and securing cargo
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
* Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude towards clients and colleagues
This role requires a dedicated individual committed to safety, punctuality, and delivering excellent service. Applicants should demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to all legal requirements governing commercial driving.
Usual working hours will be Monday to Friday, 06:30 to 17:30, but this can change depending on operational requirements, and volume.
Wages are paid weekly (Friday) at £14.80 per hours for the first 40 hours, and £22.20 per hour thereafter.
There will be overtime available on Saturday's.
The main duties of this job are collecting palletised goods from our customers (mainly pallet networks) and trunking them to our Linwood Depot. This is usually done in 2/3 loads.
