Job overview

There is an exciting opportunity to expand the team delivering Health Visiting services in temporary accommodation in Hounslow. We are looking for an experienced Community Nursery Nurse to work alongside the Specialist Health Visitors to offer well child clinics, health reviews and packages of care to families in temporary accommodation.

The work is offered in a variety of community settings, which include homes, clinics, hotels, refuges, early years settings, Family Hubs & children’s centres.

The Community Nursery Nurse will work flexibly across the 3 Hounslow localities depending on service need.

Main duties of the job

• To work within the skill-mix Health Visiting team on own initiative, prioritising workload and seeking support and advice with named Health Visitor when necessary.
• Organise and support planned interventions virtually and in community settings, e.g. Well Baby clinics, breast feeding support groups, Children’s centres and other support groups.
• To work with the Health Visiting team in the completion of 1- and 2-year developmental reviews in the home/ hotel/ Family Hub & children’s centre /clinic and establish a system for inviting these children for the review. To book children into sessions and record non-responses.
• To carry out child development reviews as per the healthy child programme using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire in group settings and individually in accordance with the Healthy Child Guidelines.
• To liaise with HVs, GPs and Early Years settings following health reviews.
• Work independently with Early Years providers to support uptake of reviews and liaising with settings regarding results of ASQ reviews.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. NNEB /Diploma in Child Care (DCE) awarded by CACHE & NHC in Child Care in Scotland. NVQ level 3. Other relevant qualifications may be considered.

Desirable criteria

2. Additional training in child development.
3. Safeguarding training.

Experience

Essential criteria

4. Two years’ experience post qualification.
5. Experience of working with parents/carers.
6. Experience of working as part of a 0-19 Team.
7. Community experience.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

8. Awareness of the role of a Health Visitor.

Desirable criteria

9. Use of S1 clinical patient system.

Skills

Essential criteria

10. Good knowledge of IT/virtual technology.
11. Ability to prioritise own work.
12. Excellent communication skills.
