A well-established rail engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of freight wagons for both the UK and EU markets.
Position summary:
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join the internal QC team. You will be responsible for ensuring products, processes, and workmanship meet internal quality standards and customer requirements, while supporting continuous improvement across operations.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct in-process and final inspections of products, components, and assemblies
Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality standards
Identify, record, and report non-conformances
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
Liaise with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues
Ensure measuring and inspection equipment is used correctly and calibrated
Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Promote a strong quality and safety culture on site
Person profile:
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Good understanding of welding processes
Familiar with or qualified in PCN or CSWIP welding inspection
Knowledge of inspection techniques and quality tools
Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
Full UK driving licence
