Role: Deburring and Machine Operator

Duration: 6 months
Rate: £12.33 per hour via PAYE (25% uplift on shift work)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Deburring and Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating machinery and performing deburring tasks to ensure all components meet required quality standards. This role is crucial for maintaining high precision and quality in our production output.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation
Set up and operate various production machines (e.g., CNC, lathes, mills, grinders).
Monitor machine performance and ensure proper functioning during operation.
Load raw materials and unload finished parts.
Conduct basic troubleshooting and report mechanical issues.Deburring & Finishing
Inspect machined parts for burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections.
Use manual and powered tools (e.g., files, sanders, deburring wheels, hand grinders) to remove burrs and smooth part surfaces.
Ensure all parts are finished according to engineering drawings and quality standards.
Maintain a clean and organized deburring area.General Duties
Maintain adherence to health and safety regulations.
Keep accurate records of work performed and time tracking.
Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of machines and work area.
Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.Required Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
Proficient in using hand tools and deburring equipment.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings and machining tolerances.
Familiarity with measurement tools and quality inspection methods.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-precision work.
Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Desirable (but not essential):
Experience operating CNC machines.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or 5S principles.
Apprenticeship or vocational training in machining or mechanical engineering.Work Environment:
Factory/production floor environment.
Standing, bending, and lifting required for extended periods.
Use of PPE required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.)
