About the Role – We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join the Newcastle Office. This opportunity would suit ideally have significant experience as a Senior Structural Engineer within a consultancy environment experience. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Managing UK based projects, in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant UK standards, across a range of the main industry sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial and healthcare.
* Liaise with and lead other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
* Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
* Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds.
* Ensure that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
* Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects, large and small.
* Prepare high quality technical reports including structural surveys.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills.
* Experience in the use of Eurocodes and relevant design codes and standards.
* The desire and ambition to promote the company from within. This may involve representing Fairhurst at external networking and social events.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
* Varied experience in all the common forms of construction and building types.
* Excellent report writing, communication and numerical skills required.
* Previous experience in a UK Consultancy
* Full clean driving license
