Health and Safety Advisor required in East London
GVR Solutions are currently representing a leading utilities and infrastructure solutions provider, based in East London, who are actively in the market for a Health and Safety Advisor to join their team. The Health and Safety Advisor will help manage all aspects of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental compliance within their Rail division.
Health and Safety Advisor Responsibilities:
* Reporting to the Senior HSQE Manager
* Act as the Responsible Person for all health and safety matters, on-site Fire Warden, and First Aider.
* Oversee and manage all HSQE and CDM aspects of work, acting as Principal Designer, CDM Advisor, and Principal Contractor under CDM 2015 regulations.
* Lead accident and near-miss investigations, interviewing witnesses, preparing reports, and issuing findings to Head Office and clients.
* Conduct site inspections (day and sometimes night as-hoc) to assess safety and quality compliance, issuing Safety Bulletins and Alerts to the workforce and subcontractors.
* Chair HSQE Committee meetings and attend senior management forums to provide leadership on HSQE strategy.
* Liaise with Night Safety Critical Manager on safety-critical work, including Protection on the Track, Drugs and Alcohol testing, and associated protocols.
* Manage and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 certifications, SSIP memberships, and RISQS requirements under Network Rail standards.
* Carry out internal process audits and coordinate third-party audits with accreditation bodies.
* review of the Quality Management System (QMS), Safety Management System (SMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and all associated documentation, risk assessments, RAMS, COSHH, and manual handling assessments.
* Monitor, report, and oversee waste transfer procedures and environmental incident reporting.
Requirements for the Health and Safety Advisor:
* Working towards NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ certificate (desirable but not essential)
* TechIOSH working towards GradIOSH
* Member of professional body such as IIRSM or IOSH -desirable but not essential
* Experience in utilities including Rail, water, and wastewater
* 2 years’ experience in a similar type of role (desirable)
* Good computer skills and working on various software packages.
* Good communication skills both internal and external lines of communication
* Able to be field based and travel to different sites daily (Driving Licence essential)
