Job Title: Family Support WorkerLocation: Various locations across SeftonSalary: Grade G (SCP 27-31)Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role:Sefton Council is seeking dedicated and compassionate Family Support Workers to join our Children's Social Care and Family Centres. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team working to improve the lives and outcomes of vulnerable children, young people, and families across the borough.

As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering practical and emotional support to families in need. Your work will contribute to the prevention of family breakdowns, promote children's welfare, and safeguard those at risk. You will engage directly with children and families in their homes and communities, providing timely and effective interventions as part of care and support plans.

Key Responsibilities:

* Undertake direct work with children and families, contributing to assessments, care planning, and reviews.

* Promote and supervise contact between children and their birth families in line with Care Plans.

* Deliver parenting programmes and support services using evidence-based tools.

* Identify and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with legislation and policy.

* Produce accurate written reports, including those for court proceedings.

* Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver coordinated services.

* Participate in meetings, reviews, and conferences as required.

* Maintain accurate case records using the appropriate IT systems.

* Support the delivery of life story work and group-based support activities.

Person Specification:

Essential Requirements:

* A Level 3 qualification relevant to working with children and young people.

* Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and issues affecting vulnerability and resilience.

* Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with children and families.

* Ability to write clear and accurate reports and maintain high-quality records.

* Experience of partnership working within a multi-agency framework.

* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

* Proficiency in using information technology and adhering to data protection standards.

* Willingness to undertake welfare visits and, in emergencies, stay overnight at family homes.
