The opportunity
We are continuing to grow and build out our Corporate Tax team and are keen to speak with experienced Tax Managers with a focus/background in Corporate Tax, who have a proven track record of building trusted relationships with clients/people and a passion for delivering exceptional client service. EY continues to invest significantly in Aberdeen and we are looking for the right individual to join our team and help contribute to our growth ambition at this exciting time for the city and region.
As a tax senior manager working in EY’s Aberdeen office you’ll provide a full range of corporate tax services. You’ll be working within client service teams as well as our deals, audit and consulting colleagues and will broaden your experience of different business tax areas to help our clients through the challenges of tax planning, tax compliance and reporting obligations and to provide support on transactions.
Your key responsibilities
1. To contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of tax services to the client,
2. Providing exceptional client service with responsibility for quality provided
3. Pro-active business development to help add value to existing clients and to develop opportunities to add value to new clients
4. High level management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business focused approach taken
5. Being responsible for, and reporting to, Directors and Partners on client account management, including complying with appropriate quality and risk management procedures and financial management
6. Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
7. Involvement in the management of the team both in terms of strategy and operations and through managing junior staff development and assignments
Skills and attributes for success
8. Significant experience in Corporate Tax from practice or from an in-house tax background
9. Strong client relationship management skills
10. Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and exhibit strong stakeholder management
11. Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to add value to new and existing clients
12. Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
13. Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral
14. Enthusiastic team player with ability to create and sustain effective teams
15. Experience of coaching and developing more junior staff
16. Ensure delivery of quality work and take day to day management of delivery team
17. Act as a leader. Think about maintaining the strength of the EY brand in the energy sector, and support our partner group in the office evolve and deliver the strategy for EY Aberdeen
To qualify for the role you must have
18. ACA/CA/ ATT/CTA / or Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training Course / Law qualification
19. Degree qualified
20. Experienced corporate tax practitioner
21. Experience in tax accounting/tax audit
22. Proven ability to read and interpret existing and new tax statute
