Bank Mental Health Support Worker
£14.06 - £15.19 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours – Part-Time, Monday – Sunday, inclusive of bank holidays, shifts include mornings, evenings, weekends & sleep in’s.
Service – Carramar, Thatcham, Berkshire.

What You’ll Be Doing
Response is looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join their dedicated team at Carramar. The team focuses on providing care for clients in a 24-hour, 7-day a week supported housing service in Thatcham. They create a comfortable, safe and pleasant environment while helping residents work towards more independent living.
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing person‑centred support to residents with serious mental illness, including adults with primary diagnoses of psychotic illness and other coexisting conditions such as physical health issues, neurodiversity, drug & alcohol use, and cognitive impairment.
* Provide emotional support, encouragement and practical assistance to residents with daily living activities, including medication assistance, engaging with interests, education and accessing community groups, employment opportunities, and teaching life skills such as shopping, budgeting, public transport use, meal planning and preparation, and maintaining accommodation.
* Foster a supportive and empowering environment that promotes residents’ independence.
* Support and monitor clients’ physical and mental health, liaise with primary and mental health services as appropriate.
* Help clients attend appointments where required.
* Ensure daily paperwork is completed.
* Support the Service Manager to achieve monthly service targets.
* Comply with all Health and Safety measures to keep residents, visitors, colleagues and yourself safe.
* Maintain property and resident rooms to a good standard.
* Promote family, friend and carer engagement, ensuring they are involved and given information about the service.
The Successful Applicant
Essential criteria:
* GCSE’s in English and Maths (or equivalent)
* Commitment to undertake continual personal development, including completing the Care Certificate
* IT literate with experience using MS Office packages
* Good communication skills, written, verbal and listening
* Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends
* Genuine interest in mental health and well‑being with a commitment to delivering Response's mission
* Ability to provide non‑judgemental, emotional and practical support to residents
* Demonstrated high levels of personal and professional integrity consistent with Response’s vision, mission and values
* Ability to follow health and safety procedures
* Demonstrated respect for difference and diversity

You will receive training and confidence to use core therapeutic talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strength‑based Trauma Informed Care and Mutual Aid to provide the best possible support to our clients.
