This Administrator role is a varied and essential position within the practice, providing comprehensive administrative, operational, and patient-facing support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of services. The postholder will work closely with clinicians and the wider practice team, delivering high-quality secretarial support, clinical coding, rota coordination, IT assistance, and reception cover. The role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, strong communication abilities, and a patient-centred approach to support safe, efficient, and compassionate healthcare services.


Main duties of the job

The main duties of the Administrator role include providing secretarial and administrative support to clinical staff, processing referrals and medical correspondence, and maintaining accurate patient records within EMIS. The role also involves clinical coding using SNOMED codes, supporting audits and reporting, coordinating clinical rotas, assisting with IT and digital services, and delivering professional reception and telephone support. In addition, the postholder will manage appointments, support patient queries, process prescriptions and notifications, and help ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the practice while maintaining confidentiality and high standards of patient care.

Gnosall Surgery is a friendly rural practice serving approximately 8,500 patients. We are proud to hold a strong CQC rating and have a dedicated multidisciplinary team that works collaboratively to deliver high-quality patient care while providing ongoing support to one another.

Based in a modern, purpose-built Health Centre with an attached pharmacy, the practice also benefits from excellent on-site parking facilities.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Experience in an administrative role
* Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office and general troubleshooting).
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
* Professional, calm, and patient-focused manner
* Previous NHS or GP practice experience.
* Experience using EMIS Web.
* Knowledge of clinical coding.
* Secretarial Experience.
