The vacancy

Are you a registered Nurse or qualified Allied Health Professional? Do you have experience of complex respiratory support and invasive ventilation skills? Are you experienced in delivering relevant education and training competencies? If so, this could be the role for you!

Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting conditions and terminal illnesses as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.

We are currently seeking a Clinical Skills Facilitator to facilitate the delivery of clinical respiratory support skills to the care team, ensuring the level of knowledge, skills and competence required is developed and maintained to enable them to provide excellent palliative and end of life care.

Focusing on ventilation and respiratory support, you will facilitate and deliver training of clinical skills to the Care Team who are every day dealing with the increasingly complex technical needs of our babies, children and young people. You will be an effective role model and provide support in building the Care Team’s competencies and confidence.

Location: Rainbows Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 2HS

Hours: This role is part time 22.5 hours per week, over 3 days with need for flexibility in line with our service needs. There may be times when you will need to work twilight nights or early mornings in line with clinical staff’s rotas.

About the role

Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

16. To support and develop nursing staff, HCA’s and students working within the Hospice
17. To deliver clinical care to a high standard for all babies, children and young people and be an effective role model with a particular focus upon respiratory support and invasive ventilation.
18. To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of education within allocated resources
19. To promote a progressive attitude to research and practice development in the continual improvement of care for the babies, children and young people

Requirements

20. Registered Nurse, Allied health professional or Physiotherapist
21. Experience of complex respiratory support and invasive ventilation skills
22. Interpersonal and communication skills
23. Able to motivate and develop a team of staff
24. Demonstrate commitment to providing high quality family centred care and education
25. Experience of supporting students within practice
26. Experience of delivering relevant education and training competencies
