The Role – Mechanical Engineer As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving plant performance across a busy industrial processing facility. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you will take ownership of mechanical systems within a designated area, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and safe operation. This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on maintenance, shutdown planning, asset optimisation, and capital improvement projects. You will be central to driving uptime, resolving recurring issues, and delivering long-term engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities Support plant reliability through effective preventative and predictive maintenance strategies Take ownership of a designated process area, ensuring mechanical systems operate efficiently Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement permanent engineering solutions Plan and coordinate plant shutdowns, maintenance outages, and major overhauls Manage subcontractors and specialist vendors on-site Ensure all works are delivered in line with health and safety standards Contribute to continuous improvement across safety, efficiency, and environmental performance Support capital projects from concept through to commissioning and handover Prepare maintenance documentation, reports, and technical records Drive asset optimisation and long-term plant performance initiatives About You Qualified Mechanical Engineer or similar technical discipline Minimum 5 years’ experience in heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environments Strong understanding of rotating equipment, mechanical systems, and plant maintenance Experience working in sectors such as cement, quarrying, mining, or industrial processing is advantageous Proven ability to plan and manage maintenance and project works Strong contractor management and coordination skills Proficient in MS Office, with AutoCAD experience beneficial Practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced plant environment What’s on Offer Salary: €65,000 – €80,000 (DOE) Benefits: Bonus Pension Healthcare Ongoing training and CPD Long-term career progression within a major industrial operation Exposure to large-scale plant upgrades and capital projects Why Apply?
