Job Title: Commercial Manager | UK Defence | Senior Leadership | Cheltenham (Hybrid)


Overview: Electus Recruitment Solutions is actively partnering with a leading UK defence sector client to appoint a highly experienced and strategic Commercial Manager. This pivotal permanent role, based in Cheltenham with hybrid working, places you directly within the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Managing Director. You will be instrumental in shaping the commercial landscape of critical defence programmes, driving growth, and ensuring robust commercial governance.


About the Role: This is a high-impact position where you will lead the commercial strategy for an essential portfolio of UK defence projects. Your expertise will be vital in navigating complex commercial landscapes, fostering key client relationships, and influencing significant strategic decisions.


Key Responsibilities:

* Commercial Portfolio Management: Oversee and strategically manage current and future project commercial aspects.
* Client Relationship Growth: Cultivate and expand strategic client partnerships within the defence sector.
* Strategic Opportunity Support: Advise on commercial positions for major campaigns and growth initiatives.
* Bid & Proposition Development: Collaborate on Bid/No-Bid decisions and formulate robust commercial proposals.
* Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Lead comprehensive commercial risk identification and management.
* Commercial Documentation Sign-off: Authorise and maintain a central register of all commercial instruments.


Essential Skills & Experience:

* UK Defence Sector Commercial Management: Proven track record in a similar senior commercial role within UK defence.
* Strategic Commercial Acumen: Strong financial skills, deep knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry trends.
* Negotiation & Leadership: Exceptional strategic negotiation capabilities and demonstrated leadership.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent ability to build and maintain relationships and influence outcomes.
* Organisational & Project Management: Highly organised with a strong understanding of project and risk management.
* Security Clearance Requirement: Must be a Sole British Citizen and either currently hold or be eligible for UK Government Security Clearance (minimum SC level).
