Job Title: Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Job Location: Petherton Park School, North Petherton
Salary: Between £18,418.05 and £22,056.30, for 22.5 hours/week (3 days), 42 weeks/year
Contract Type: Permanent – Term Time Only
Are you a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a lasting impact?
This role involves supporting pupils with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism to develop communication skills, conducting therapy sessions, leading group activities, and collaborating with teachers. You will also mentor less experienced therapists, contribute to training, and support university students on placement.
We prioritize your clinical development and offer protected time for it. Your work will help children build confidence and reach their potential.
A day in the life:
* Using a trauma-informed approach with a small caseload, including 1:1, classroom, and group support.
* Participating in the admissions process and writing pen portraits.
* Collaborating with the wider team, including creative art therapists, teachers, and assistants, and participating in multidisciplinary meetings.
* Maintaining up-to-date records and administrative tasks.
Requirements:
* A recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, HCPC Registration, and membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language.
* At least 3 years of experience as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Confidence in supporting and training other therapists.
* Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* A full driving license, as offsite meetings may be required.
If you have NHS experience, consider this a “Band 6” level role. If you're a “Band 5” with experience, development pathways are available.
