Substance Misuse Recovery Worker
A role within the Substance Misuse Healthcare Team at HMP Lewes, a category B prison located in Lewes.
About the Role
This position supports the Substance Misuse Healthcare Team within a busy local remand male prison with a capacity of 620 inmates. You will provide evidence-based care to a caseload of psycho‑social patients and deliver psycho‑social interventions, including substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‑borne viruses and safe sex practices.
Working Hours and Salary
Healthcare 7 days per week; work 5 days out of 7 on rotation, including weekends. Shifts are 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Sunday. This is a full‑time role with an annual salary up to £33,510.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide outstanding evidence‑based care to a caseload of psycho‑social patients, listening to and acting on their feedback.
* Deliver psycho‑social interventions and offer information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood‑borne viruses and safe sex practices.
* Provide non‑judgemental one‑to‑one care and group therapy, supporting nursing and pharmacy teams.
* Follow the HiJ competency framework, policies, procedures and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant degree, qualification or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge and experience providing structured psycho‑social interventions.
* Experience working within a substance misuse multi‑disciplinary framework, including housing, social care, health care and mental health pathways.
* Non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
* Legal right to work in the UK (subject to vetting and security checks).
