Main Purpose:
Shift Operator/Dispatcher based at our Theale Oil Terminal (near Reading) to safely operate and monitor the Terminal, import, store and distribute fuels by rail and land.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
1. Day-to-day safe operation of a petroleum fuel storage and distribution terminal
2. Coordination of the traffic desk which includes handling vehicle loading & offloading of products and related documentation
3. Operating Automated systems within a Control Room
4. Routine monitoring, testing and checking terminal equipment and preparing for routine maintenance including shutting down and starting up plant operations
5. Operating gauging, storage tanks, pumps, valves and pipelines and testing, inspecting and sampling products
6. Knowledge of risk assessments and permits to work
7. Excellent safety work ethic and adherence to company safety procedures is a key requirement of the role
Key Relationships and Department Overview:
Suitable candidates should ideally have some experience of Terminal and Rail Operations; however, training will be provided. A good level of physical fitness will be necessary to enable the successful candidate to work a 12 hour, 24/7 shift pattern in an external environment. Work will also involve working at height and in confined spaces on occasions. The successful applicant will work within a small team and also alone as part of their shift pattern. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and hold a full UK driving licence.
