What You’ll Be Doing
Gladman Developments is a well-respected and established strategic land promoter based in Congleton, Cheshire. In this role you will be the legal lead on land and property matters, including conveyancing, transactions, advising on complex title issues, disposals and acquisitions of land, and negotiation of complex promotion agreements and options. You will also advise the Company on strategic development projects and transactions, working collaboratively with minimum supervision.
Responsibilities
* Draft, negotiate and provide due diligence on complex Promotion Agreements and Option Agreements.
* Work independently and maintain a collaborative environment within the Legal Department and cross‑departmentally.
* Provide timely, user‑friendly reports on proposed transactions after due diligence.
* Manage the sale and purchase of land and property.
* Draft, negotiate, approve and report on all conveyancing related documentation, including transfers, leases, licences and easements.
* Keep updated on relevant legislation and satisfy continuous professional development requirements.
* Liaise with landowner solicitors on site disposals with planning permission to protect the Company’s interests.
* Deliver high‑quality, efficient, customer‑orientated legal service to Company departments.
* Advise other departments on Property and Planning matters.
* Ensure legal services meet Company expectations, targets and deadlines.
* Draft, negotiate and complete legal documents, including letters of reliance and terms for external consultants, and protect the Company’s interests in disposals.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders as directed by the Head of Legal.
What You’ll Need
* Qualified Solicitor with at least 7 years PQE.
* Substantial experience in residential and commercial conveyancing transactions and residential development.
* Ability to provide accurate advice in a timely manner.
* Excellent communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Use evidence and best practice to achieve results.
* Ownership of problem‑solving: identify potential issues, find solutions and escalating appropriately.
* Demonstrates accuracy, systematic and thorough record‑keeping and file management.
* Works accurately and rapidly, and under pressure to tight timescales.
* Flexibility to adjust priorities and evaluate needs on an ongoing basis.
* Works unsupervised and under pressure.
* Good Microsoft Office skills.
* Experience with Big Hand software.
* Ability to analyse information, summarise complex policy documents and produce clear, user‑friendly reports.
* Legal research skills and ability to prepare advice notes.
