Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team, overseeing day-to-day activities of the regime. This role supports regulatory reform efforts and will help transition the team from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The role duties and responsibilities include:
1. Waste classification technical leadership
2. Technical leadership for Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve compliance
3. Enhanced leadership of priority waste streams
4. Providing technical support on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
5. Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra's circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
6. Enforcing Hazardous Waste regulations to support actions in the control strategy to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling.

Additional information
You will have an inclusive incident management objective, with support to find suitable roles. The role offers flexible/hybrid working with an EA Office base, and some travel may be required.
