Job Vacancy: Community and Events Team Leader
Salary:£14,663 based on 21 hours per week (Full-time equivalent is £26,191 per annum based on 37.5 hours per week)
(based on FTE of 37.5 hours per week)
Hours:Part-time permanent position 21 hours per week plus some additional overtime required for meetings. Relief hours may also be available on a variable hours basis to cover staff absences across Brunswick.
Work pattern:Our preferred days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with an 8.30am start. There is a requirement to be able to attend a team meeting usually once per month on Tuesdays 3.30-5pm. We may be able to offer some flexibility on the days of the week to be worked. Our ideal candidate will also be able to commit to some occasional overtime e.g. in the lead up to a big event.

The Community and Events teams are at the very heart of organising events that help celebrate our Brunswick community and provide opportunities for connection and friendship. We are seeking a positive, enthusiastic and friendly Community and Events Team Leadertolead small teams of people with learning disabilities, who have a range of skills and abilities, to organise inclusive events and talks, write newsletters, and help develop our bite size learning programme.The size and focus of the events vary but will include small groups walks, film nights and the Christmas party as well as events that are open to the public such as an Open Day for our charity or being part of York Unlocked.This role also provides leadership and support for the Group Leader in the team and close liaison with our team of relief cover staff who cover groups in the absence of staff.
This role would suit someone who loves organising and running events and who is able to think about how to make these inclusive. We’re seeking someone whose people skills are just as strong as their office and events skills and experience. You need excellent attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and be able to keep calm and focussed in the busy environment of an event taking place. You will seek to build great relationships, enabling each individual to take as much independence as possible in their work and social interactions, to think about their progression and development, to keep them safe and to help.The role also involves leading and supporting a small staff team including supervision and appraisal.
Skills and experience required:
* Experience of coordinating and running events.
* Experience of office administration / tasks.
* Knowledge and ideally experience of building inclusion.
* Strong IT skills using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Office 365. Canva is also useful.
* Experience of supporting people with a range of skills and abilities.
* Ability to motivate others and create a positive and rewarding work environment.
